The RuMBa Foundation's name is derived using the last names of our blended family members - Rudy, Molina, & Battiste. It calls to mind the lighthearted, joyful dance of the same name.
Josephine Molina & Heather Rudy both grew up in Long Beach and attended LBUSD schools and met in High School Drama. Mark Guillen is a local philanthropist who is also very well versed in the Long Beach art community.
Is to help students access the rich and vibrant community of art and artists in Long Beach. One of the RuMBa Foundation's unique offerings is to cover transportation to art experiences off of the school campuses. This may range from a trip to a live performance, museum, studio, to a trip to art departments of local colleges & universities, especially LBCC & CSULB. We also make grants to schools to bring in artists and art supplies.
Is to expand access to the arts for children grades K-12 in the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD).
